UPCOMING CLASSES

Golden Sierra Life Skills is now offering an Aggression Replacement Training (ART)/Anger Management Class for Adults.  ART is designed to provide education and skills to replace aggression and anti-social behavior with positive alternatives.  The program offers a unique approach that includes training in positive social skills, anger control and moral reasoning.  Weekend Classes for Level #1 Auburn 11/1 & 11/2/08, Level # 1 in Roseville on 11/8 & 11/9/08.    Class Minimum is 10 students.  For more information or registration 530-217-4535.

Level #1 - 12 Hours             

Level #2 -  24 Hours             

Level #3 - 36 Hours

Lou Vasion will also be facilitating the
Aggression Replacement Training (ART)/Teaching Pro Social Skills (TPS) - Co-Ed Anger Management Class for youth ages 11 to 17 years of age.  This 6 week class will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm starting Wednesday November 5the at the Roseville Family Resource Center.  Class Minimum is 10 Students.  For more information or to register for the class call 530-217-4535.

Lou Vasion, ART Facilitator, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Biology, with a minor in Psychology from Central Washington University and an Associates Degree in Psychology from Sierra College. 

Lou Vasion is certified in Aggression Replacement Training, Mental Health Core Training,  Dealing with Resistive Youth, Intergraded Treatment Modal, and Sex Offender Training from the State of Washington, Dept. of Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration. 

He has worked with the Roseville Adult Youth Services, Crestwood Manor Psychiatric Hospital, Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration Washington Juvenile Prison, Sacramento County Probation DRC, and the Nevada County Juvenile Hall.                                          

Men, Infants, and Children (MIC) Program

The English Men, Infants, and Children (MIC) Program is currently taking registrations.  The MIC class will be taught in Auburn on Tuesdays, from 7 – 8:30p.m., at Chana High School in room #21., and Wednesdays from 7 – 8:30p.m. in Roseville, at the Roseville Family Resource Center.  For additional information/registration, call 530-217-4535

Latino MIC classes are done on a rotating basis currently in Roseville, and classes will be starting soon in Auburn.  For dates and times contact Carlos Urbieta at 530-401-6030.

Latino MIC Program classes are also being taught in the Tahoe/Kings Beach area.  For dates and times call Paul Bancroft at 530-401-7817.

Co-Parenting Program 

Lou Vasion will also be the Facilitator for the up-coming Co-Parenting Class starting November 3, 2008.  This is a 6 week, Court approved Active Parenting: Cooperative Parenting and Divorce parenting class.  THIS WILL BE THE LAST CLASS FOR THE YEAR.  CLASSES WILL RESUME AFTER THE 1ST OF THE YEAR. The class takes place on Mondays from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Roseville Family Resource Center at 124 Main Street.  This session of classes will have 3 classes in November and 3 classes in December due to the holidays.   For additional information/registration, call 530-217-4535.

Man to Man is a male parenting program/support and life skills education and for men with children ages 6 to teen.  Up-coming classes will be announced.   Classes take place at Chana High School in room #21.   David Gray is the program facilitators.  Classes will cover:  Parenting Older Children, Teens with at-risk behaviors, Co-Parenting, and much more.  For additional information/registration, call 530-217-4535.

Kids in Need of Diversion (KIND) Program

The Kids in Need of Diversion Program is a 1 day program for at-risk youth.  Classes cover, but are not limited to:  Dangers of Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco, Choices/Changes/Challenges, Truancy, Theft, Bullying/Victim Awareness, and Peer Pressure.  This class is designed to empower youth to make positive choices and decisions in their lives. The next class will be October 25th at the Roseville Family Resource Center at 124 Main Street.  The cost for this 1 day class is $ 50.00.  THIS WILL BE THE LAST CLASS FOR THE YEAR.  CLASSES WILL RESUME AFTER THE 1ST OF THE YEAR.  Check-in is at 8:45 a.m. and class ends at 3:3p.m. For additional information/registration, call 530-217-4535. oGrayson
